Our Approach to Sustainability

At BlankClothing.ca, we believe customers should have clear and useful information about the apparel they purchase.

As a Canadian distributor of blank clothing from many different manufacturers, we do not manufacture the garments we sell. Materials, manufacturing processes, factory locations and environmental programs therefore vary by brand and product.

Our role is to provide customers with a broad selection of apparel while making relevant product information available whenever it is provided by the manufacturer.

More Responsible Product Choices

The apparel industry continues to evolve, with manufacturers introducing products made with materials and processes intended to reduce environmental impact.

Depending on the product, these may include:

  • Organic cotton
  • Recycled polyester
  • Recycled cotton and blended recycled fibres
  • Responsibly sourced materials
  • Manufacturing processes designed to reduce water or energy use
  • Programs intended to reduce manufacturing waste

BlankClothing.ca continues to expand its selection as manufacturers introduce new products with these attributes.

Product Transparency

Sustainability can mean different things depending on the garment, material and manufacturer. For that reason, we believe specific product information is more useful than broad environmental claims.

Where information is available from the manufacturer, product descriptions may identify characteristics such as organic materials, recycled content, fabric composition or other relevant environmental attributes.

Customers looking for a particular certification, fibre content or manufacturing standard should review the specifications for the individual product before purchasing.

Working With Established Apparel Manufacturers

BlankClothing.ca carries apparel from established manufacturers and brands serving the Canadian apparel, promotional products, corporate wear and decoration industries.

Many of these manufacturers maintain their own environmental, social responsibility, ethical sourcing and supply-chain programs. The scope of these programs varies between manufacturers and can change over time as new materials, technologies and manufacturing practices are introduced.

Because these programs are managed by the manufacturers themselves, BlankClothing.ca does not represent that every product or brand we carry meets the same environmental standard.

Reducing Waste Through Better Purchasing

One of the simplest ways to reduce unnecessary apparel waste is to choose the right garment before ordering.

We provide product specifications, fabric information, sizing details, colour options and inventory information to help customers make informed purchasing decisions.

Our Warehouse Verification Tool can also help customers identify inventory from a preferred Canadian warehouse, which may help simplify fulfillment and reduce unnecessary split shipments.

Canadian Distribution

BlankClothing.ca fulfills apparel orders through Canadian distribution warehouses in British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario.

Orders are generally fulfilled based on inventory availability and the customer's destination. Using multiple Canadian warehouse locations allows many orders to travel from a warehouse closer to the customer rather than from a single national distribution point.

Our Own Operations

We also look for practical ways to reduce waste and environmental impact within the areas of our business that we directly control.

Our Vancouver operations incorporate practices such as recycling, responsible use of office supplies and energy-conscious operation of our workplace. We continue to review our processes as better options become practical and available.

Quality & Product Longevity

Sustainability is not only about how a garment is manufactured. How long a product remains useful also matters.

We offer apparel across a range of weights, fabrics and construction methods so customers can select products appropriate for their intended use. Choosing the right garment and following the manufacturer's care instructions can help extend its useful life.

A Continuing Process

There is no single solution to making the apparel industry more sustainable. Materials, manufacturing technology, recycling systems, supply chains and industry standards continue to change.

BlankClothing.ca will continue to review the products we carry, provide relevant manufacturer information and expand the choices available to customers as the industry develops.

Our goal is simple: provide customers with useful information so they can choose blank apparel based on the factors that matter most to them, including quality, price, performance, materials and environmental considerations.
